Respects are paid to head of Estera’s Cayman business

Julian Black, a group director and head of Estera’s Cayman business, has passed away suddenly, the company has said.

A former partner of Appleby, Black was one of Cayman’s leading corporate finance lawyers, specialising in CLOs and subscription finance transactions. He also led the business development efforts of our group, driving growth and new business generation through his wide network of clients and contacts.

Farah Ballands, CEO of Estera, said: “It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of one of our group directors and the head of Estera’s Cayman business, Julian Black.

“Julian was a respected colleague and friend to all who worked at Estera but especially those in our Cayman office, who will feel his loss keenly. We will remember him not only for his skills as a lawyer but also his boundless enthusiasm and infectious exuberance – our global family has lost one of its shining lights and we will miss him terribly. Julian’s wife, Glenna and their two children are very much in our thoughts.

“Our global leadership team is working to support our Cayman based directors, Fiona Crellin and Richard Gordon, as we communicate this dreadful news. We are also pooling the resources from across the Estera group to support our team during this difficult time.”
