The Legislative Assembly has passed three bills that will eventually enable the creation of a searchable, corporate ownership registry, a move that was agreed with the UK government last year.
The Companies Amendment No. 2 Bill, Companies Management Amendment No. 2 Bill 2016, and the Limited Liabilities Companies Amendment Bill 2016 together outline definitions of beneficial ownership and set forth creation of a registry that would be accessible by law enforcement and tax authorities.
