Two Cayman law firms to merge

19-12-2013

Two law firms in the Cayman Islands, both of which provide legal services to the funds industry, have agreed to merge early in the New Year.

Travers Thorp Alberga and Paget-Brown will continue as Travers Thorp Alberga with Ian Paget-Brown QC assuming the role of Counsel in the new company.

Ian Paget-Brown said: “The growth of my practice over the last 40 years has been a source of immense pride to me but I feel the time is now right for my clients to benefit from the specialised legal expertise available at Travers Thorp Alberga.

“I would like to express my gratitude for the loyalty of my clients over many years and their unqualified support for this merger. I will, of course, continue to be available to them in my new role as Counsel.”

Tony Travers, senior partner at Travers Thorp Alberga, said: “Ian and I have been legal colleagues in Cayman for well over 30 years and have developed a tremendous amount of respect for each other. As law firm mergers go, this is a perfect match and a natural progression.”
