Maples and Calder, the Maples Group’s law firm, has announced that three Caymanians have successfully completed their articles of clerkship with the firm and were recently admitted as attorneys-at-law in the Cayman Islands.
The Honourable Justice Robin McMillan admitted Lucy Day and Hailee Robinson on 29 June 2020 and 2 July 2020 respectively. Juliana Wood was admitted by The Honourable Justice Ramsay-Hale on 16 July 2020.
Their admissions were moved by the firm’s Dispute Resolution & Insolvency Partners Colin McKie QC, Caroline Moran and James Eldridge.
Due to physical distancing guidelines at this time, the Court permitted the admissions to be streamed remotely so that family, friends and colleagues could join the occasion.
Following her admission, Day joins the firm’s Funds & Investment Management practice as an Associate. She holds a First Class Honours Degree in Marketing and Management from Newcastle University and is also a graduate at the University of Law, Bristol Campus where she completed a Graduate Diploma in Law and the Legal Practice Course, both awarded with distinction.
Day completed her postgraduate in legal studies through the firm’s legal scholarship programme. Throughout her studies, Ms. Day worked at the firm as both a legal and marketing summer intern. She is a member of the Cayman Islands Legal Practitioners Association (CILPA) and 100 Women in Finance (100WF) NextGen.
Upon her admission, Robinson joins the firm’s Finance practice as an Associate. Beginning her career with the firm through a series of summer internships, Robinson attended the University of Bristol where she graduated with a Masters of Law. She also completed a Legal Practice Course at the University of Law, Bristol Campus which she was awarded through the firm’s legal scholarship programme. She is a member of CILPA, 100WF, 100WF NextGen as well as the Deputy Chairperson and legal committee member of the Alex Panton Foundation.
Wood joins the firm’s Funds & Investment Management practice as an Associate. During her studies, Ms. Wood also completed summer internships in both the firm’s Cayman Islands and London offices. As a legal scholarship recipient, she attended the University of Kent where she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Law and Accounting & Finance before attending the BBP University for her Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice. She is a member of CILPA, the 100WF NextGen committee and 100WF GirlForce 100 committee.
