25-06-2015

Offshore law firm Mourant Ozannes has appointed litigation partner Shaun Folpp to its Hong Kong office, where he will practice Cayman and British Virgin Islands (BVI) law.

The move will establish a contentious restructuring and litigation offering to Asia-based client and Folpp will spearhead the growth of a dedicated litigation practice to support the existing corporate, finance, investment funds and international trust work.

Folpp currently serves as head of the firm's litigation and insolvency department in the BVI.

Paul Christopher, Hong Kong managing partner, said: "The growth of the Hong Kong office underpins the importance of the Asia market for Mourant Ozannes, and our commitment in providing a technically excellent, high quality offshore service in Asia.

“We're delighted to welcome Shaun to the office. Shaun's move to the firm's Hong Kong office is in direct response to the success and growth the firm has been experiencing in Asia and increasing client demand."

Folpp added: “I'm looking forward to developing our litigation and insolvency practice in Hong Kong. Our Asian clients will benefit from on the ground advice from the world's largest and top ranked offshore litigation practice.

“Just in the past two years, we have advised on the liquidations of the Kingate Funds, Weavering Macro Fixed Income Fund, Victory Life & Pension Assurance Company, Primeo Fund, the claim against Maan Al Sanea and Saad Companies, the restructuring of Arcapita Investment Holdings Limited and ongoing litigation in respect of Carlyle Capital Corporation, R2R Funds and YT Charitable Foundation (International).”

The firm's BVI office also continues to grow with Eleanor Morgan and Nicholas Fox set to become partners, subject to work permit approval.
