Free seminar: are you prepared for FACTA?

01-09-2013

A seminar will take place on Thursday October 3 at the Westin Grand Cayman Resort presented by Cayman Finance and the Ministry for Financial Services entitled ‘Are you prepared for FACTA?’

Sponsored by Dillon Eustace and KPMG, speakers will include Roy McTaggart, councillor, Ministry for Financial Services; Steven Cantor, managing partner, Cantor & Webb; and Doug Harrell, partner and head of US Tax, KPMG.

The Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FACTA) has the potential to affect thousands of Cayman Islands residents, especially if they have ties to the US.

Due to the way taxes are levied in the US, all Caymanians born in the US (even if they never lived there or have never possessed a US passport) are liable to pay taxes and file tax returns yearly. FATCA will expose those persons who have not been complying with the US tax law, including any Caymanians.

This seminar, for which Cayman Finance has joined forces with the Cayman Islands Government’s Ministry for Financial Services, is the second in a series aimed at updating people on the latest developments within this far-reaching legislation.

The Seminar is sponsored by Dillon Eustace and KPMG. Confirmed speakers include Councillor Roy McTaggart with the Ministry for Financial Services; Steven Cantor, Cantor & Webb P.A.; and Doug Harrell of KPMG.

The seminar is free but to register visit the Cayman Finance website.
