15-05-2018

Carey Olsen has appointed Matthew Crawford as a consultant in its Cayman Islands dispute resolution and insolvency practice.

Crawford, who has broad commercial litigation and insolvency experience, particularly in the financial services sector, joins Carey Olsen after 11 years working at Maples and Calder's Cayman Islands office where he was partner from 2009. Prior to that, Crawford worked for Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in London and Russell McVeagh in New Zealand.

Crawford has advised on many of the high profile litigation and insolvency matters in the Cayman Islands since 2006 and regularly appeared as an advocate in the Grand Court and the Court of Appeal.

Carey Olsen partner Jan Golaszewski, head of the dispute resolution and insolvency practice in the Cayman Islands, said: "Matthew is a very experienced and highly regarded Cayman Islands lawyer. Having known him since 2002 and worked alongside him at two other law firms, I know that he will be a fantastic addition to our team and I am excited to work with him again. The appointment also reflects the increased volume of instructions we are seeing in this practice area."
